Met Gala 2018: Miley Cyrus risks wardrobe malfunction in dark dress as she teases sideboob
MET GALA 2018 saw stars such as Miley Cyrus dressed to the nines to impress some of the fashion world’s most elite designers, but the former Disney star almost flashed more than she bargained for on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Miley Cyrus wore a perilously low-cut black gown for her appearance at the annual Met Gala which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The singer-songwriter went braless in the revealing frock that fell below her feet and featured a long train.
Posing on the red carpet, the 25-year-old almost spilled out of the plunging garment when she attempted to pull up her dress.
While trying to adjust the fabric, Miley flashed a hint of sideboob and narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction.
The Wrecking Ball hitmaker looked phenomenal in the slinky number and accessorised with several pieces of jewellery.
The backless garment allowed Miley to show off her array of tattoos and sexy waist chain.
She wore minimal make-up, consisting of pastel eyeshadow, light blusher and a slick of pink lipgloss.
Miley was not joined by boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, 28, for the occasion but did accompany Stella McCartney, 46, and Paris Jackson, 20, on the red carpet.
Fashion designer Stella looked ethereal in dark green outfit that was cinched in at her waist and she wore her fiery tresses in a sleek bun to allow her elegant ensemble to take centre stage.
Posing beside her was the daughter of the late Michael Jackson, Paris, who wore a floaty grecian gown.
The model oozed confidence in the silk attire and completed the pretty look with a diamond tiara.
Also at the event was Amal Clooney, 40, and her Hollywood husband George Clooney, 57.
At this year’s Met Gala stars from the world of fashion, film, music and art were encouraged to wear clothes inspired by Catholicism.
This was to fit with the theme, titled Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Designs from the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Christian Dior, Coco Chanel and Schiaparelli were displayed inside the venue to commemorate the occasion.
Exhibition creator Andrew Bolton said the exhibit would “raise deeper — and even more provocative — contemplations about the role dress plays within the Roman Catholic Church and the role the Roman Catholic Church plays within the fashionable imagination”.
At the Anna Wintour Costume Center gallery ecclesiastical masterworks such as papal vestments and accessories such as rings and tiaras will be shown.
In a statement, Andrew said: “Fashion and religion have long been intertwined, mutually inspiring and informing one another.
“Although this relationship has been complex and sometimes contested, it has produced some of the most inventive and innovative creations in the history of fashion.”
